We hope that these training tips will help you a lot:
Þ During the training process it is very essential that you do not let your pet run free in the yard with or without wearing the receiver. The negative effect of this is that it will confuse your dog and you may have to re-start the entire training process all over again.
Þ It is best to keep your dogs on a restricted area during the first week.
Þ For a beginner, it is not advisable to walk your pet over the boundary line because it may confuse him.
Þ If your pet needs to leave the yard, place him in a safe area like inside your car or carry your dog well to the other side of the signal field. In doing this, do not forget to remove your dog’s collar receiver to avoid unnecessary corrections that might scare or confuse him.
Þ During the first week, allow your pet to get used to the receiver on his neck and then remove it after each training session. On the second week, try to remove the collar receiver only each night and repeat this process until the time comes that your dog will be able to wear the water proof collar receiver at all times.
Þ For proper sanitation, try to clean both the collar receiver and the dog’s neck every week.
Þ Training flags is also a great help. It may represent as a temporary visual boundary for your pet and will also help you out with the training process. Maintain the position of these flags for about two weeks and slowly remove it depending on your dog’s training improvement until the time comes that the entire training flags are all out.
Þ Make sure that each session will be short and upbeat but will really be effective.
Þ Dogs have extremely short attention span that’s why they easily get tired during training but don’t be discouraged if your dog won’t learn at first because they will also understand it afterwards.
Þ Walk with your pet within the safe area of the yard and calmly praise and talk to him. You don’t need verbal correction and consider your pet’s personality, temperament, size and breed in choosing the right correction level.
Þ Everyday, each training lesson should only last about 10 to 15 minutes but must be continuously repeated each day for better training result.
Þ Since you already expect that your dog will experience an uncomfortable but harmless, static correction when reaching the boundary, make sure you quickly pull your dog back into the safe area of the yard. This will be remembered by your dog and he will do the same thing when you let him walk on his way as he approaches the signal field.
Þ After two weeks of daily training, you can remove all the training flags and teach your pet how to safely walk over the boundary. Encourage your pet not t go beyond the boundary until he gets used to it. Then your dog will eventually know how to discipline himself.
